Irresistible Taco Meat

September 22, 2014 by myrecipeconfessions

Last weekend, my husband and I were busy building benches for our kitchen table (I will share all the details later this week). The kids kept asking what was for dinner.  I had been so busy with the benches that I completely forgot that we needed to eat dinner.

Instead of running to the nearest fast food joint, I whipped up this taco meat. I had the tacos on the table in less than a 30 minutes.

Tacos are a something that everybody at our house will eat. Some of my pickiest eaters will even have seconds. So as you can guess, everybody left the dinner table happy that night.

With love from my kitchen to yours,

Carrie

What I Love Wednesday

September 17, 2014 by myrecipeconfessions

One of my go to quick meals is panini sandwiches. They don’t require a lot of time and they are so satisfying. If you don’t have a panini press, you can still make paninis on the stove top. However, it takes longer and that defeats the purpose of the quick and easy meal.

Peach Cobbler

September 10, 2014 by myrecipeconfessions

With peach season in full swing, it is a must to make peach cobbler! What better way to spend a cool fall evening than sitting out on the porch with a serving of hot peach cobbler and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Oh my mouth is watering!

I love Fall! One of my favorite fall recipes is Peach Cobbler. I love to eat it hot out of the oven with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Make a batch of this Peach Cobbler and enjoy it while you get out all your fall décor.

Fall Corn Husk Wreath

September 9, 2014 by myrecipeconfessions

I’m sure I have told you before that fall is my favorite season! It is so pretty when all the leaves change colors. The weather cools down a bit and everything just seems to slow down.

As I was getting out my fall décor, I realized that I was no longer in love with the fall wreath I used last year. I love having a new wreath for each season and I get sick of them pretty quick too. I guess that the benefit of making them is that they don’t cost a lot.  So I don’t feel as guilty when I am ready to swap the old wreath out with a new one.

I saw a tutorial on designimproved.com for this lovely corn husk wreath.  I felt like mine needed something else, so I added the floral. I love how it turned out!

With love from my kitchen to yours,

Carrie

Autumn is just around the corner, which means it’s also time to start some DIY crafts for fall. This wreath might look complicated, but it really is quite easy. It make a great addition to your other fall decorations.

Chalk Paint Chair Makeover

September 6, 2014 by myrecipeconfessions

As you can see, my chairs were in desperate need of a makeover! I have had these chairs for a few years. I bought them off of KSL (a local classified ad) a few years ago for $5 a chair. That is right my friends, I paid $30 for the six chairs. I finally got around to refinishing them.

I promised you that I would show you the chairs when I finished them. They took a little longer to paint than my table because of all the details on the chairs.

Andes Mint Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

September 4, 2014 by myrecipeconfessions

Now that school has started, I’ll bet that your kids would love coming home to a batch of Andes Mint Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats.

You can whip these babies out in no time and then have plenty of time to sit and listen to your kids tell you about their day.  Some would say that a tall glass of milk would make this treat complete.

As an added bonus, if your kids are anything like mine, you can use this treat as a motivation for them to do their homework in a timely manner!

Until next time,

Carrie

What I Love Wednesday

September 3, 2014 by myrecipeconfessions

I love Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! I love that I don’t have to prep the piece by sanding or priming. I love that it dries quickly and that it generally only takes  two coats to cover it. I also love that after I wax the piece that it doesn’t chip or peel and can with stand my five child and all the love they give it!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint can only be purchased at select stores. It is $37.oo a quart, but it goes a long long way!

I just painted my kitchen table and chairs and I am so in love with the results!

Here is a picture of what my kitchen table looked like before I painted it. I did sand the table before painting because it had a lot scratches and dents and I wanted to get as many out as I could.

When I took this picture I had already sanded the top, but I think you can tell that my table was in desperate need of a makeover!

Kitchen Table

Kitchen table2

I bought this table five years ago for $40 from a college student. I bought it with the intent of refinishing it.

Of course life gets in the way, I had two more kids and graduated from college in the mean time. Five years later my table is finally done.
